Bio-Art Exhibition Book Design
Hollow Body is an exhibition featuring bio art curated with the principle that the body provides a hollow space for art and expression to exist.
The exhibition book was designed with the principles of mind, body, and soul. This has determined both its physical structure and the organization of the material within.
The book has no structured covers, the body, or structure, of the book is a clear acrylic sleeve that holds the content within. The mind of the book is the collection of pages bound together. The soul is the content within.
Poetry in Science
The typography and grid are inspired by the organized chaos of a scientist’s messy desk.
Chapters are contained within a system of brackets and page details embellish the page within a distinct system.
The “mind” of the book; an essay that inspired the exhibition. The “soul” of the book; the artists and their artworks
The Take-Away
This was my first book that I developed from start-finish. I learned how to hand-stitch the binding and worked with prototyping materials to create the acrylic sleeve.
